Cowboy hall nominees released

Members of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame Center of Western Heritage and Cultures: Native American, Ranching and Rodeo selected 14 individuals for their 2007 ballot.

The 14 nominees were selected from more than 60 submitted for consideration. Seven of the 14 will be selected by the group's trustees for induction into the NDCHF Hall of Honorees in Medora in August.

NDCHF Executive Director Darrell Dorgan said those selected for the hall will be announced over the Fourth of July.

The names that will appear on the 2007 ballot are:

Pre-1940 rodeo: Two nominated, one will be selected

• John Quilliam, of Marmarth and Killdeer.
• Rueben DeCamp, of Fort Clark and Morton County.

Modern-era rodeo: Four nominated, two will be selected

• Henry Almit Breuer, of Garrison.
• Ralph Klein, of Washburn, McKenzie and Dickinson.
• Harry Olson, of Killdeer.

Pre-1940 ranching: Two nominated, one will be selected

• Charles E. Shafer, of McKenzie County.
• Donald Stevenson, of Emmons County, Morton County and Bismarck.

Modern-era ranching: Two nominated, one will be selected

• Alick Dvirnak, of Dunn County.
• Jake Larson, of Almont.

Arts and entertainment: Two nominated, one will be selected

• The Tibor Brothers, of Hebron.
• James Kirkpatrick, of Beach and Jamestown.

Rodeo producer: Two nominated, one will be selected

• Pete Pelissier, of Billings County.
• Sam Rhoades, of Killdeer.

Induction ceremonies for the seven selected for the hall will be held at the Tjaden Terrace in Medora on Aug. 4.
